Comincio io:
Action Girl: Most sample characters are that, particularly Keeler (a Gunlugger, possibly the most dangerous and battle-prone archetype
of all).
After the End: Uh, it's
Apocalypse World.
Beware the Nice Ones: The Skinner is all about beauty and nice things. Until you realize that one of his moves,
An arresting skinner, allows him to freeze you on the spot by removing a piece of clothing and, well,
cut your throat.
* Also, the Touchstone (a limited edition character). His whole concept his about hope; then you read the Indomitable move and realize that this nice person can
automatically kill any NCP without even rolling for that (it's actually the MC who decides if he's killed, stunned or disarmed, but still...).
Blessed With Suck: The Grotesque (a limited edition character written by Joe McDonald). It can get nice things like fangs, claws, or
spores growing on its body.
Bullet Proof Vest: Partially subverted. The best armor in the game
will stop pistol rounds... mostly... but some damage from rifles and shotguns will still get trough.
Chainmail Bikini: Lampshaded in the Battlebabe's move
Impossible reflexes. Basically, the
less the character wears, the
more he is protected from harm!
Did Not Do Research: The gun stats are all wrong, with assault rifles being given the same range as shotguns (while, in real life, the former tend to be effective well beyond 400 yards and the latter become useless at around 50) and other mistakes. Given what the author writes in the Ludography about gasoline, however, it may be that he simply didn't care.
The Faceless: There's actually a
playable character whose concept
perfectly fits this trope. You may guess its name.
Master Poisoner: The Maestro'd. The player doesn't even have to setup the poisoning: according to the
Just give me a motive move, to "name somebody who might conceivably
eat, drink, or otherwise ingest something you’ve touched" is enough to roll the dice to see if you got him.
Mind Screw: Brainers do that.
Only a Flesh Wound: The way Harm works in
Apocalypse World means that (in the author's words) "player’s character can take one bullet for free, essentially; the second bullet (or the third, with armor) is the serious one. This is straightforward old-fashioned cinematic causality."
Names to run away from really fast: Doubly subverted. Basically, in the Apocalypse World people give name to their children
without knowing what they really mean, so a guy may be named Serial Killer and be the nicest guy on Earth. However, playing characters tend to do
exactly what the names on their playbooks suggest, so a Gunlugger
is someone to run away from really fast.
