Hi Mauro,
Thanks for these questions. Here are the answers:
• no body part can cross the dashed edge; what if this happen? We simply reroll the die.
I count the die as a Miss, unless, of course, it caused a collapse. That is, just ignore Hits that cross the line!
• can the players adjust the Heat, if it's wobbly?
Yes, yes, yes!
• if the Heat falls while putting the last die, this doesn't count as Collapse only if players are rebuilding it, or also if there was three dice beside it and they were adding them?
It the Heat falls, it's a collapse when:
[ulist]
- ...you are adding the last die to the stack when trying to rebuild it.
- ...you are adding any of the scene dice (dice sitting beside the stack that are added to the Heat before you make the Challenge roll).
- ...you nudge the Heat with your dice when rolling (that's the obvious one).
- ...you are trying to "steady" the stack of dice before adding any of the scene dice (dice sitting beside the stack that are added to the Heat before you make the Challenge roll).[/ulist]
It is not a collapse when:
[ulist] - ...you bang into the table. Oops!
- ...you are rebuilding the Heat but you haven't got to the last die yet.
[/ulist]
• can the player repeat a Challenge? For example, one character tried to stun a PNG, failing; then another character wanted to try the same thing.
If it works in the fiction, then yes. Technically, you are framing the next scene as an immediate follow-up from the last scene (and the guy with the lowest number of Story Pips should take a Story Pip.), where the scene type is a Run Scene, the Scene Objective is "Do the thing the other guy fucked up," and the Location is, well, where you are.
• if for a Miss I get Trauma ×2, how many dice I remove and how many pips I lose? Two or four?
Four.
• we were wondering... what if the PGs are separated, or if one leaves the group?
That's never, ever happened to me! Wow! I guess you do what you did. Keep the same rules, but occlude some of the players from the action. Those other players could still Threat and Challenge, but they could not narrate for their own character (unless they wanted to do a "meanwhile" cut, which would be funky). In fact, someone should try to run a game where each of the contestants is in a completely different location, and each of them, somehow, is contributing to the same goal in every scene. Heist movie, anyone?
• And, the main one: there is some moment in which the Heat resets (for example, when a Checkpoint is reached)? I think not, but the doubt came to us...
No, the Heat only resets when you get to the end game. Using short Rest Scenes is the only way to reduce the height of the stack.
• And, a doubt from a friend of mine: did you think about some way to give a mechanical advantage for character supporting each other in a Challenge?
Yes, but it got scrapped during playtesting. If you want, you can:
[ulist]
- ...allow other players to aid your roll by spending 2 Story Pips (they spend those, not you).
- They get to roll according to their Power, they may use a Talent, but they cannot commit Violence.
- If the case of a Fail/Collapse, both characters are affected, and add one Trauma to the result.[/ulist]
Does that clear it up for you?
