[The Quiet Year] Disegnare la comunità

Durante l’ennesima missione congiunta mia e di Mauro Ghibaudo per trovare la soluzione a una regola poco chiara di un gioco, abbiamo contattato Avery Alder per ricevere da lei lumi su come gioca la creazione della comunità in The Quiet Year, nella fase in cui si disegna il terreno generale sulla mappa. Riporto qui sotto la domanda e la risposta.

Daniele: In the paragraph “Sketching Terrain” you say “The community itself should be fairly large on the map,  perhaps occupying a third of the sheet.”

The question is: do you usually draw the community in this phase? Or do you roughly decide between the players where the community will be drawn during the game?

Avery: It depends. Some groups draw a couple boxes to represent buildings, others lightly sketch a circle and say “we live over here,” or something else.

The key idea is: don’t make your village a single dot on the map, and also don’t make it the entire map.

Aggiungo soltanto che, durante le mie partite, avevo sempre fatto nel secondo modo indicato da Avery: mi accordavo grossomodo con i giocatori su dove sarebbe stata la nostra comunità, facendo presente a tutti l’area di circa un terzo del foglio che avrebbe dovuto occupare. Più di una volta ho disegnato un cerchio leggero a matita, giusto per capirci. Di solito, parto dal presupposto che la comunità sia al centro esatto del foglio.
